15 March 2013

The next module of the MMF/MPA Music Publishing Development Programme takes place on Monday 8th April and there are still some spaces left. Book yours now by contacting angela@mmf-training.com.

Guest speakers include:

  • MATT SMITH – Tummy Touch Music Group (MD)
  • NEIL GAFFNEY – Right Thinking Solutions (previously EVP, Global Services & European Society Relations at EMI Music Publishing)
  • LANCE PHILLIPS – Sheridans (Partner)
  • AUSTIN JACOBS – Prager & Fenton (UK Partner)

The module will look at Sub-Publishing, Global Royalty Tracking & Auditing – all hot topics in today’s increasingly digital landscape. As music publishing continues to change and evolve, the need to work with appropriate business partners and professional service providers to maximise revenues and exploit opportunities is more important than ever before.

What exactly is digital auditing? How may a creator’s audit decisions affect contract negotiations? How can we establish or improve royalty tracking systems and practice to ensure that we may be paid correctly – especially if the cost of auditing is prohibitive?

How have recent changes in collective & direct licensing, access to truly global markets, opportunities to diversify, etc. affected decisions to be made regarding sub-publishing, relationships between music publishers, and the partners you may choose to work with?

What exactly do we need to know about sub-publishing repertoire from and in key territories and markets? How does music publishing differ in mainland Europe, the USA or Japan?

Which terms & conditions in agreements may provide the best framework for developing opportunities for & relationships  between music publishers, sub-publishers & creators – now and in the future?

All these questions and more are to be addressed on the evening of Monday 8th April. Join us to hear from (and ask questions of) the professionals about the practical challenges & opportunities involved.

Subjects covered:
  • Sub-Publishing, Co-Publishing, & Publisher Relationships / International Royalty Tracking
