MMF are hosting 3 panels and a networking event at BBC Introducing Live!
Exploring the Role of the Manager & Music Management Career Development
Thursday 31st October (2pm – 3pm)To mark the launch of the Music Managers Forum’s latest research ‘Managing Expectations’, the role of the manager panel will explore music management as a career. Looking in detail at how the role of the music manager changes and develops throughout an artist’s career. The panel will discuss career progression, the relationship between artists and business partners and what responsibilities managers have once record labels, publishers and booking agents are involved. In this panel, we will be comparing the roles of Jenny Carroll who has been managing artists for the past 5 years, Simon King who has over 12 years of artist management experience and Keith Harris who has been managing artists for over 35 years.Moderator: Annabella Coldrick (MMF)

The Artist & Manager Business – Managing an Artist’s Business (FAC + MMF)

Friday 1st November (2pm – 3pm)

This panel is collaboration between the Music Managers Forum and the Featured Artists Coalition. The discussion will look at what is involved in music management, how to navigate an artist’s business without a manager, choosing the right time to work with a manager and identifying what makes a successful artist and manager partnership. The panel will be moderated by Jayne Stynes of the MMF and formally of Eleven Management and speakers include; self-managed artist Bishi plus artist FEMME and her managers Dan Garber.

Roots in Management – Building your Career in Music Management
Saturday 2nd November (2pm – 3pm)Do you want to get into music management? This panel will look at building roots in management and providing insights on how to get your first job in a management company or start working as an independent manager. The panel will hear from Leander Gloversmith from management company ie:music (Robbie Williams, Passenger), Chris Hunte, who is currently on the MMF’s Accelerator Programme for Music Managers and Diane Wagg, former Chair of the MMF and experienced artist manager who has been mentoring and supporting new managers in the music industry.Moderator: Paul Bonham (MMF)

There will also be a member event on the 31st October to celebrate the launch of the Managing Expectations Report (role of the manager research) in the evening with full details to be announced. BBC Introducing passes are required to attend the event.
