Manager Spotlight: Lei Jennings

10 July 2025

The manager spotlight offers a small insight into the heads of incredible managers. This week in the spotlight is Lei Jennings!

How long have you worked in Management?

4 years.

Who do you manage now?

MARCEL, Dolly Rae & Apollo George.

Where did you find your first client and what inspired you to take them on?

I found my first client organically through writing sessions. There was a natural chemistry between us, and trust developed over time as we continued to collaborate. I didn’t set out to manage them, it evolved naturally as I became more invested in their vision and potential.

What does a good/bad day at work look like for you?

A good day at work is when there’s creative flow, clear communication, and I can see momentum whether that’s a breakthrough in strategy, a strong writing session, or moving a project closer to launch.

A bad day isn’t about things going wrong, that’s part of the process. But if communication breaks down, or I’m stuck chasing clarity instead of creating, that’s when it can feel unproductive.

What has been the highlight of your management career to date?

That’s a tough one, because each client I’ve worked with has had unique milestones that felt like real highlights whether it was a major label release, a first national radio play, or a breakthrough moment in their confidence or direction. For me, the real highlight has been witnessing growth, seeing an artist go from uncertainty to clarity.

What do you think are the big challenges for a manager in 2025?

One of the biggest challenges for managers in 2025 is navigating visibility in an oversaturated market. With algorithms constantly shifting and content moving faster than ever, cutting through the noise requires not just consistency, but real strategy and storytelling. Another major pressure is maintaining momentum without burning out your artist especially when audiences expect constant output across multiple platforms.

What have you gained from the Accelerator Programme so far?

It still feels early into the programme, but even at this stage, I’ve gained clarity and confidence in my role as a manager. The Accelerator has already helped me sharpen my strategic thinking and given me access to tools and frameworks I can apply immediately. Just being in a space with other managers who are navigating similar challenges and learning from mentors who’ve been through it has been hugely motivating.

Why would you recommend the MMF?

I’d recommend the MMF because it’s one of the few spaces in the industry that truly supports managers not just in terms of resources, but through community. It can be an isolating role, especially early on, and having access to people who understand the challenges, share knowledge, and advocate for best practice is invaluable.

What music are you currently listening to?

I’m very nostalgic by nature, so a lot of what I listen to still comes from the ’90s and 2000s, that era shaped my taste. But I do like to stay connected to what’s current too. Especially Manchester. Lately, I’ve been listening to:

Tyla
Kaytranada
Cleo Sol
Tunde
Nemz
