The Big Music Project: Call for Artists

20 August 2014

Back by the BPI, Global Radio and UK Youth, The Big Music Project has now launched. The organisation aims to give 14-24 year olds the chance to pick up an instrument, learn about the music business and make the right moves toward turning their creativity into a career.

They have a number of initiatives in the pipeline including:

  • The Big Music Project Live: In October they’ll be hosting a serious of free live events in cities across the UK including seminars, workshops, networking opportunities and workshops.
  • The Next BRIT Thing: A competition to find and develop talent across the UK.
  • On Track: A careers initiative offering placements and internships.
  • BRIT School Toolkit: To encourage UK Youth Champions to develop music initiatives in their communities.

They are also inviting artists and managers to help them spread the word and get involved in any of the following ways:

  • Providing a quote for use in press releases or on the website showing your support for this brilliant project and why young people should get involved!
  • Tweeting @BigMusicUK showing your support for the project encouraging lots of young people across the country to check out the website and what the project has to offer.
  • Providing a short video about what you think is great about the project and why young people should get involved.
  • Offering  prizes of signed merchandise or money can’t buy experiences to incentivise young people to come on board.
  • Taking part as a judge at the Next BRIT Thing final kicking off BRITs Week in 2015 at The O2 to offer real advice and guidance to up-and-coming artists.
  • Attending one of the national events in Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow and London in September and October to talk about your adventures in the music business so far.
  • Performing live on stage at one of our Big Music Project national days to more than 2000 young people.
